Frequently Asked Questions
Why should I use SPF?
It is absolutely necessary to use SPF daily to ensure your skin remains protected from harmful UV rays. SPF is one of the most important ways to prevent our skin from ageing (i.e. forming wrinkles and fine lines) and preventing post acne scars and hyperpigmentation.
When should I use SPF?
Use SPF daily to ensure your skin remains protected from harmful UV rays.
NB: Regardless of the weather, sunscreen should be worn daily. This is because UV rays can penetrate through the clouds and even through windows.
Where in my routine does this sit?
SPF should be the last step of any skincare routine. It's best to wait for 15 minutes after using sunscreen and let it dry on your face and form a film, before you step out.
NB: You can apply makeup after applying SPF.
How often do I apply SPF?
Apply sunscreen every two hours throughout the day for maximum sun protection.
How much sunscreen do I use?
The general rule is two full lines on two fingers and apply generously on the face and neck daily.
How do I use SPF when swimming or sweating?
When swimming, apply your SPF at least 20 minutes before you enter the water. Let the sunscreen dry on your skin first before you enter the water. If you are going to sweat, apply sunscreen 15 minutes before you start any activity that will make you sweat.
Do darker skin tones need SPF?
Yes, all skin types, no matter how melanated need SPF to protect their skin from sun damage and premature ageing.
How do I assess how much protection a sunscreen has?
You can assess the protection of a sunscreen by looking at the SPF value and PA value. The Uncover Aloe Invisible Sunscreen is a broad spectrum SPF with an SPF50+ and a PA ++++ value.
What does SPF 50+ mean?
An SPF50+ means that more than 98% of UVB rays are blocked from reaching your skin. The '+' sign indicates 'more than'. This is one of the highest levels of sun protection offered.
What does PA++++ mean?
PA is short for 'Protection Grade of UVA' and measures UVA protection. In this sunscreen, PA++++ means that this sunscreen has extremely high UVA protection for your skin.
